From Anxiety to Peace
Anxiety feels like your thoughts are running ahead of you, imagining the worst, and never letting you rest. Solomon describes how an anxious heart weighs us down, but a good word and God’s wisdom can lift us up and steady our mind.
but a kind word cheers it up.” — Proverbs 12:25
and do not lean on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5
I let go of what I cannot control and lean on God’s wisdom and care. His peace guards my heart and mind, even when life feels uncertain.
What This Transformation Looks Like
Anxiety in this journey looks like: racing thoughts, “what if” fears, sleepless nights, tightness in your chest, and constant mental replay of worst-case scenarios.
Peace does not mean a life with no problems. It means a steady heart in the middle of them — a quiet trust that God is present, guiding you, and not surprised by anything you are facing.
Solomon’s 3 Simple Steps
-
Step 1 — Name your worry instead of carrying it silently.Take a moment to write or say: “Right now I am anxious about…” Be specific: finances, health, children, work, the future. Naming it helps pull it out of the fog and into the light where God can meet you.
-
Step 2 — Replace “What if?” with “Even if, God is with me.”When anxious thoughts come (“What if this goes wrong?”), gently answer them with: “Even if it does, God will still be with me and give me wisdom.” This doesn’t deny reality. It anchors your mind in God’s presence rather than in fear.
-
Step 3 — Practise one daily moment of stillness.Choose a simple daily habit: sit quietly for 2–5 minutes, breathe slowly, and repeat a short Scripture like: “The Lord is my peace.” Let your body calm while your mind focuses on God instead of your worries.
Reflection Question
Write one honest sentence that starts with: “Lord, I’m afraid that…” Then add: “But I choose to trust You with this.”
One Small Action for This Week
• Sit still and take 5 slow breaths. • On each exhale, quietly say: “Lord, I give You my worries.” • On each inhale, say: “Lord, I receive Your peace.”
At the end of the week, notice: Do your thoughts feel slightly lighter or clearer?
